EYE - Powerment Program

When I lost my eye almost two years ago in a snowboarding accident, I felt like I had also lost all control, like I had no purpose and there was no reason for this to happen to me. I felt like I was mentally and physically trapped and that I would never escape. Since then, with a tremendous amount of work and the help of a strong community, I have not only moved past the accident, but I discovered that I've been able to grow into a better person because of it.

When I started EYEHESIVE, I did it so that we in the visually impaired/one-eye community would never have to feel alone. I wanted us to have a platform so that we could share our stories and similar experiences. I wanted us to have a place where we could find resources to help in the journey of receiving a prosthetic eye. But mostly, I wanted us to find each other and have somewhere to go to navigate our new life together; which in my experience, doing it together is so much more fun, comforting and helpful towards having the fullest life.

As the founder of EYEHESIVE, I am here to help, not only in fostering a new community and hosting conferences but on a personal level as well. That is why I am so excited to announce The Eye - Powerment Program. Through our one-on-one coaching, the support of the EYEHESIVE community, and additional program resources, our work together will help you no longer lament the loss of your vision, but rather learn to love the life you have been given, as I myself have.

As your coach, I want you to know that what you are going through are problems I have likely already worked through myself. For example:

- The pain of not feeling “normal.”

- Trusting that my body is trying to heal. - Fear of the unknowing → worrying about the future when it comes to vision loss.

- Feeling less than, unloveable, unworthy, struggling with appearance.

- Being scared to share our experience, strength, and hope.

Through my 5-month program, we will improve the physical healing process, understand how to manage stress and fears, build confidence in appearances, and plan for the future. Because I am walking in my purpose, I am going to help you walk in yours too!

The Eye-Powerment Program offers:

  • 1 hour of weekly one-on-one coaching

  • Documentation of your wins, breakthroughs, implementations, recordings, and notes from each session

  • Continuous slack messaging support

  • Prompts, podcasts, and resources curated for your specified needs

I am no stranger to helping people! I worked as an esthetician for 10 years, helping people feel and see their beauty from the inside out. I have been teaching yoga for 5 years, at a variety of establishments from a therapeutic preschool, elderly home, and rehab centers, to advanced classes at CorePower Yoga. Creating empowered students not only physically but mentally as well. I have managed a sober living for the last year and a half and I have walked 14 women through the 12 steps of alcoholic anonymous as a sponsor and mentor. Although, this is my first time stepping into the light of one on one coaching to help people overcome and grow through a life-altering experience with vision loss. I know I have everything it takes to be an amazing coach and help many many people. Like I have been doing for the last year of running the EYEHESIVE page and sharing 75 stories and connecting with more than triple that amount of people! I thought it would be fun to also share this process along the way! :) With full transparency, I could continue to add to this blog as things transform and grow. I’m here now & showing up big for all of you! Today, I got you! I am so excited for YOU and the dreams you are going to reach along any stage of your process!

12-13-22- Love, Shelby
