What’s your eye story?
I was in a car accident a little more than a year ago. I sustained traumatic injuries to the left side of my face resulting in the loss of my left eye.
What has been the most challenging mentally?
Coming to terms with what my new ‘normal’ is. My physical appearance, limitations, and just overall life changes were tough to get used to.
What has been the most challenging physically?
The depth perception! 😊
Where are you now in your recovery?
Following the initial reconstruction and an additional procedure to replace the implant that failed, I am less than a month away from my first prosthetic!
What advice would you give to someone going through their eye impairment journey?
It only gets better from here!! There is so much support, and so much life to live. Lean into those around you that can help, and take your time.
